There can be some confusion around Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) in the marketplace because it's relatively new. That said, HOCl as a molecule has been around millions of years used by the immune system of mammals. The successful manufacturing of #HOCl in a #stable, #scalable, and #pure form only occurred within the last decade. So of course something relatively new to the market that is performing like something with tens of millions of years of super-charged R&D and Product Validation will raise some eyebrows, and with that, #healthy skepticism.

We take any confusion about our product ingredients or #quality very seriously and given an opportunity we will always want to #clarify and #educate because we are the Global Leaders of #HOCl and that's our #mission.

Below are 3 reasons why Briotech pure HOCl contains No Bleach.

1. The EPA registration and Quality Control confirms it.

Briotech has both an EPA Registered #Disinfectant and #Sanitizer with the approved Active Ingredient of #HOCl and registered language on our label of "0% bleach." This claim is searchable through the public-domain, EPA database under EPA No. 93108-1, whereby Briotech is the registration-owner and manufacturer for all brands under this registration. To register our HOCl #Disinfectant, we engaged in a multi-month, thorough product chemistry review through the EPA to verify the #efficacy, ingredients, label claims, and a long #stability analysis to ensure we stay pure for the duration of our shelf life.

Furthermore, the EPA recognizes HOCl and NaOCl (sodium hypochlorite aka "bleach") as separate Active Ingredients, each having different "OSHA Hazard Categories" by #OSHA 29 CFR 19101200. HOCl is categorized as a non-irritant and non-hazardous and bleach as category 1, severely hazardous. You can even sort by Active Ingredients on the EPA List N and there exists both "hypochlorous acid" and "sodium hypochlorite." Some may try to assert that HOCl cannot be produced or that it's the same as bleach, and if that were true neither the #EPA nor the #FDA would not have a category for it. Briotech wouldn't be able to say "0% bleach" on our bottle label if it were not valid; that language would have simply been screened out during our approval process.

Briotech manufactures under strict cGMP and EPA manufacturing guidelines in a dual-registered facility to ensure purity.

When we produce each batch of our product we verify with multiple analytical #chemistry tests that the pure HOCl product meets quality inspection before release. This documentation is traceable and audited regularly to ensure compliance with #data #quality and #integrity.

So even if one didn't understand how we made something, you can trust that the resulting formulation undergoes rigorous testing to ensure its purity. See below on the #DIY how to test for HOCl purity in solution!

HOCl is so potent, very little is needed to demonstrate 5 log efficacy cross-pathogen types. Bleach requires a much higher concentration to reach the same performance.

Our EPA N List formulation is qualified at 0.018% HOCl. Bleach-contaminated products are sold at a much higher concentration because they simply do not have the potency of HOCl and require a higher concentration to work against germs. The #CDC recommends when using bleach that the final dilution is ~3-5X greater than our formulation, the final concentration of bleach around 600-800 PPM, while ours sits around 180 PPM. Simply put, if Briotech was using bleach in the formulation it would have never passed the efficacy test to qualify as a disinfectant, given it's 0.018% concentration.

Related to high performance, Briotech was evaluated against "Prions [the] deadly protein-based pathogens that are extremely difficult to inactivate" by the National Institute of Health (NIH) who also recognized Briotech's purity years ago (source) with this statement: "BrioHOCl is a highly purified formulation of hypochlorous acid, which immune cells produce naturally to kill microbes." Completing this R&D study solidified Briotech's mission, it was time to take HOCl to the world.

Multiple institutions have confirmed Briotech's HOCl purity.

2. The pH impact on product purity confirms it.

But first, a short review of pH. Below you see a chart showing the 0 - 14 point scale of pH. When we say something is acidic v. neutral v. alkaline/basic just refer to this chart. Briotech strives to achieve the "skin goals" pH which so happens to be perfect harmony with pure HOCl. We find that nature's wisdom is unveiled in our science with each discovery we make.

The most overlooked item when discussing everything #chlorine is pH and how important it is to purity of HOCl in solution.

Below is Chart 1 illustrating the relationship between HOCl and OCl (hypochlorite aka what many shorthand as "bleach"). Chart 2 not only confirms our purity analytically it also informs how HOCl and OCl present visually through Raman Spectrometry as the pH changes in solution. "Raman shows a structural fingerprint in which molecules are identified." [source] Manufacturing and stabilizing at the pH 4-5 range produces pure HOCl with properties parallel what we find in nature; the HOCl that our immune system produces to fight #infection, promote #healing, and reduce #inflammation. That said, always follow the product label's instruction for use.

Chart 1: The #USDA and many other publications have also reported on the pH scale of chlorine species in solution. The pH impacts purity of HOCl. Briotech's average pH across 70 batches is 4.4 which is classified as "skin neutral pH." #Skingoals #FTW

Chart 2: Hard data that validates the purity of Briotech HOCl by Raman Spectroscopy. We compare Briotech results with an independent published study which characterizes how chlorine changes in solution at a given pH. By looking where on the x axis HOCl and OCl peaks fall and cross-referencing with the Briotech sample, it is unwavering clear that Briotech is pure HOCl with No Bleach contamination. [source]

Briotech is Proven Purity.

A side by side analytical comparison and Blog post between Briotech HOCl and impure HOCl & Bleach competitors is in near future!

Historically, when a manufacturer attempted to make a "HOCL-esque" disinfectant with outdated electrolysis chamber technology they could only make #bleach or very short acting #HOCl that turned into bleach if it wasn't immediate utilized. Most of our impure HOCl competitors can barely get to a 30 day shelf life to this day. But as Moore's law would have it, tech capability (in the right hands) is exponentially expanding, and even technology three years ago often becomes antiquated. Briotech's #proprietary machines zero in on the reaction in a never-before seen precision that cuts out the unnecessary byproducts and hypochlorite contaminates are simply not produced. Our machines are patent pending, and include #IP on #purity. There is no sense in trying to figure it out with a google search of someone else's tech, this is one of a kind #innovation.

We're the "Tesla" of Disinfectants.

Briotech manufactures and stabilizes our #HOCl at the correct pH (our average is 4.4) to ensure no hypochlorite contaminants. At this range the Disinfectant is considered non-hazardous by our #OSHA standard cited above. The heavy duty 11% Clorox Bleach we all know is at pH 11 and is extremely corrosive and hazardous and the sodium hypochlorite present at pH 7-8 will also exhibit a lesser but still present form of these risks, see Chart 3 below.

Bottom line, your body produces HOCl. It does not make OCl; it doesn't want it, so why manufacturer it? That's what ~40 million of years of evolution decided and we will oblige to nature because nature knows best. When you see a impure #HOCl manufacturer try to market "neutral pH" and are tempted to buy - watch out, they are impure #HOCl and you may want to ask yourself - why risk it?

Chart 3: Hazards identified on a 11% sodium hypochlorite label listed on the Safety Data Sheet of Bleach - Sodium hypochlorite: source

The pH is everything when it comes to purity.

So who is pure/impure? Anyone can discover the #pH of a product by googling "Safety Data Sheet" and the "[product name]." This public domain "SDS" form required of all cosmetic/EPA/FDA products lists all the known hazards and features of a given product, including pH. It is easy to verify who is and who isn't making pure HOCl. Many HOCl manufacturers are producing their solutions at pH 6-7 (example) and have hypochlorite bleach contamination. In the graph below, look along the X axis and see how pH 7 is around 40% hypochlorite contamination. And remember, pH 7 isn't #SkinGoals worthy.

Briotech is the only HOCl manufacturer on the List N to manufacturer at the correct pH.

It took nearly a decade of cutting edge #manufacturing R&D to do so, but #Briotech did it. And as stated earlier, any given batch of #HOCl product has to pass #quality testing before it goes to market.

Here's the 2-step DIY test to determine HOCl purity.

A solution's FAC (Free Chlorine Species) and a pH can both be determined by test strips that are purchased online.

Step 1. Chlorine Test Strips will test the amount of Chlorine in your solution.

Step 2. pH Test Strips will determine what phase your Chlorine is in (see Chart 4 below). If you solution reads 4-5, it's in pure HOCl form.

Chart 4: How pH impacts the relationship of HOCl/OCl in solution. HOCl is considered a weak acid (also known as skin neutral pH) and when made pure, it's simply wonderful.

3. Our successful history confirms it.

We have successfully sold our #formulation to use as a face mist, hand spray, and mouth rinse for many years with 0 #safety recalls. Doctors have utilized the formulation as an eyelid wash for many years with 0 #safety recalls. We continue to #support ground breaking #disease-response and #healing #research with our formulations to drive #future product lines because we have trust in our product integrity. We frequently #publish our findings in peer reviewed journals. Additional five years of scientific publications and news can be found here. A company selling bleach would not be able to perform this successfully or rally a team of #global Infection Disease experts behind its #mission.

But most importantly, customers #love our products because it works for them. Between the thousands of direct, engaging emails from #happy customers, and countless ecommerce testimonials of how our products have enriched their #wellbeing, we remain #driven towards our #mission each day:

Bring HOCl to the world! And with that, Peace of Mind.
